XIV PAINTING
AND DRAWING COMPETITION
CIUDAD DE ALORA
Alora City Council (Malaga) presents the XIV Painting and Drawing Competition ‘Ciudad de Alora’ in accordance with the following terms:
1. Any artist can take part in the competition no matter their nationality.
2. The Council puts aside 6.010,12 € to buy those works chosen by the jury.
3. There are two options: painting and drawing. Artists can choose any technique and theme for their works. The size of the works will not be higher than 195 x 130 cm., or lower than 81 x 65 cm.
Those wanting to take part on the competition need to provide the following documents: their Curriculum Vitae, photography and technical details of the works entering the competition (title, materials, size and date) and their valuation or price (VAT included).
Any other documents can be included which may help provide a better understanding of the artist’s work.
4. Each artist may enter a maximum of two drawings and two paintings.
5. The works will be handed or sent to La Casa de La Cultura, Avda. Cervantes s/n, Alora 29500 (Malaga), Tel/Fax 952 49 66 60.
6. Works will be accepted from December the 9th 2002 until January 10th 2003. The times are from Monday to Friday (except for December the 24th, 25th, 31st and January the first) from 11:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 20:00 hours.
7. The contestants will pay for the package and postage of their works.
8. The council will take the best possible care of the works entered, but will not be liable for damages or losses during the dispatch of the works.
9. An exhibition will be held on the Casa de La Cultura with a selection of the works taking part in the competition. This selection will be done in accordance with the space availability and the Culture Department criteria. The Opening Ceremony will take place on January the 24th at eight in the evening in the Salon de Actos de la Casa de La Cultura.
10. The members of the jury will be people of recognition within the arts and the chairman the Mayor of Alora (or person he may resign in favour of). The second chairman of the jury will be the Culture Councillor and the secretary that of the Culture Department.
11. The jury will choose the purchases to be made by the Council. A list of these works will be made public on a ceremony on February the 7th 2003 at eight o’clock in the evening in La Casa de La Cultura. The purchase of these works will also be made effective on this ceremony.
12. The Council holds the reproduction and exhibition rights of the purchased works.
13. The purchase of works determined by the jury will not necessarily reach the amount of one million pesetas put aside by the council. The jury’s decision will be final.
14. Those works entering the competition and not purchased by the Alora Council may be collected from La Casa de La Cultura from March the 3rd 2003, from Monday to Friday (except bank holidays) between 11:00 and 14:00 and 17:00 and 20:00 hours. Those works not collected after May the 9th will become property of Alora Council.
15. Taking part on the competition implies the acceptance of these terms.
